24 is arguably the series that put Kiefer Sutherland on the map. I know, he was in Lost Boys and a dump truck load of other movies but 24 is the show that defined him for the current generation media consumers. Everyone knows who Jack Bauer is. They just do. The show reached such a cultural saturation that even stylistic elements like the ticking clocks and split screens are instantly associated with the show.
The show’s producers have been attempting to bring it back for quite some time. But with Sutherland’s run ins with the law and the producer’s desire to maintain a supreme level of excellence the show has stayed off the air. Well, that’s going to be changing soon. 24 will return in 24: Live Another Day. The setting of the show will be changed to London and the show will take place four years after the end of the original.
Sutherland is quoted as saying: ‘ ’24’ has always had such a global sensibility. But to be able to tell this intense ‘24’-style story with the beauty of Europe’s history and architecture as the backdrop is going to be fascinating. Hopefully, by the time you’re finished watching an episode, you’ll feel like you’ve been there…on the edge of your seat.’
Show runner and Executive Producer Evan Katz had this to say: ‘ We wanted the show’s return to be an event, and part of that was putting Jack in a very different context. Four years ago, we left Jack a fugitive from justice and we’re going to pick him up four years later in London.’
