With Edgar Wright leaving Marvel’s Ant-man over ‘creative differences’ there’s been a lot of speculation over who will take over the chair for the upcoming Marvel film. Let’s examine the rumored shortlist.
First up is Rawson Marshall Thurber.
The director of Dodgeball and We’re The Millers. He’s experienced and is definitely capable of executing the film, but lacks any sort of fan friendly angle. He’d be a safe bet, but not an exciting one.
Next up is Adam McKay.
The veteran comedy writer and director of Anchorman, The Other Guys, and Anchorman 2 would be an inspired choice. He has both the comedic chops and genre friendly leanings that would make him a favorite on the business side and the fan side.
Ruben Fleischer, director of Zombieland and Gangster Squad, is the final rumored contender. He’s known for his comedic timing within the context of other genres. This could be a perfect fit for him. He’s definitely the director with the most experience directing action.
Will one of these three ultimately take over for Wright? Possibly. Rumors have been circulating all week. Nothing concrete has come from Marvel yet, but with a looming release date and a mostly cast film you can except to hear more soon.
