Director Joseph Kahn has managed to do the slightly impossible. He brought back Bruce Lee.
Well, sort of.
In the chinese Johnny Walker commercial below you’ll witness a fully CG Bruce Lee that is just shy of indistinguishable from the living breathing man.
The obvious question that comes into play is how would Mr Lee feel about his likeness being used to sell alcohol?
Well, Joseph Kahn has an interesting take on that matter:
‘I spent a year living and breathing this man, thinking about him every day. For me, it’s not an ad. It’s an exploration & celebration of him. This is a sculpture in a different medium, paid for by a different church. I stand behind it.’
You’ve to to admit, he makes a pretty solid argument. That coupled with the fact that it’s done with the blessing of Lee’s daughter Shannon Lee.
