Constantine Trailer Showcases An Unexpected Cameo

Hellblazer is an amazing comic book. It pushed the boundaries of the medium for almost 30 years. Recently, it came to an end. Over the course of its run it was adapted into a not-s0-faithful film starring Keanu Reeves. Well, the powers that be at Warner Bros/DC have decided that John Constantine needs another go at a wider audience. This time, however, on the small screen.

Constantine has been set up at NBC as a weekly supernatural thriller/procedural. The initial trailer looks not what you’d call ‘great’ but the fact that they actually have Constantine as a blonde, trench-coated, englishman goes a long way to differentiate it from it’s bizarrely popular feature film cousin.

Going even further down the rabbit hole, there’s a cameo from a mother DC comics character in this second trailer. Check it out.

Did you catch it? Yep, Constantine is picking up the Helm of Nabu aka the Helm of Fate I.E. the shiny helmut that Dr Fate needs to wear in order to have super powers. Will Doctor Fate appear in the show? Will Constantine put on the Helm of Nabu? Is this just fan service? Only time will tell.

But as of right now, I’m far more optimistic about this show.
