Legendary Wants Joe Cornish For ‘Skull Island’

Joe Cornish has been a busy man, as of late. He’s written on Tintin and Ant-man, been considered for the Big Chair on Star Trek 3, and has a spy film Section 6 currently in Pre Production. He’s be a very busy man indeed.

The latest news on Joe Cornish is during  Comic Con he’s been offered the job directing the King Kong prequel ‘Skull Island’ for Legendary.

This is a massive step forward for Cornish, if he accepts the job. Legendary is arguably the preeminent studio to work for. They’ve produced a slew of popular, critically acclaimed, and commercially successful films. This would officially propel Cornish from Attack the Block, critical darling to an established mainstream director. Does he want that? Will he accept the position?

Only time will tell.

I was honestly hoping he’d finish up Section 6 and then take some time to make another original film. I’d love to see the man make something that was along the lines of Attack the Block again. That film is so potent and original and absolutely fantastic. Do I need to see another King Kong re-do? No, not really. But I would like to see whatever story Joe Cornish has to tell. I’d love that.
