Bruce Springsteen fans awaiting the release of his new album High Hopes got an unexpected foretaste on Saturday when the record accidentally became available for sale on Amazon ahead of its January 14 release date, as reported by Billboard.
The snafu occurred briefly on Amazon’s mobile site, with tracks from the record available as MP3 downloads. The mistake was quickly corrected, but not before fans were able to purchase the tracks and post them on file-sharing sites.
No comment as of yet from either Amazon or the Springsteen camp, so it is currently unclear whether the leak will have any impact on the current official release date.
High Hopes has been described as a combination of cover tunes, outtakes and new renditions of songs from the Boss’s earlier work. Springsteen and the E Street Band have planned a tour of Australia, New Zealand and South Africa shortly after the album’s release.
