As we mentioned earlier, Record Store Day 2013 is approaching on Saturday, April 20. Besides being a great time to show support for independent music retailers around the world, one of the best things about Record Store Day is the number of exclusive releases by various artists—limited quantities of special prints, unlikely artist collaborations and other collector’s items.
This week, the Record Store Day website published the list of official exclusive releases, available as a drop-down feature on the website or as a downloadable PDF file. There are literally hundreds of ‘em, but here is just a teaser of what is coming available:
Bon Jovi, Bon Jovi Live in 12” picture vinyl (run of 2000)
David Bowie, “The Stars (Are Out Tonight)” single on 7” white vinyl (run of 5000)
Mumford & Sons, Live at Bull Moose, 10” vinyl or CD (run of 4000 and 6000, respectively
The Black Keys/The Stooges, “Side By Side: No Fun” on 7” orange vinyl (run of 7000)
The White Stripes, Elephant 10th Anniversary Edition, double album on 12” vinyl
Bob Dylan, “Wigwam” single on 7” vinyl (run of 9500)
Misfits/The Lemonheads, “Side By Side: “Skulls” on 7” picture disc (run of 3000)
There are also a large number of extra-special, hard-to-get collectibles that will be released in runs of under 1000 copies. Watch for these special releases from the likes of Lamb of God, Patti Griffin, Portugal the Man, Swedish House Mafia, Blitzen Trapper, Dave Matthews and others. And of course, there will be plenty of new releases on Record Store Day that aren’t exclusive, but which will be worth your while to pick up on April 20.
To help you keep up with all the releases and the goings-on (particularly with indie record stores in your area), there is also a Record Store Day Guide mobile app available for Apple and Android products, which you can download from the website.
Record Store Day is only 23 days away! Are you ready?
