Rolling Stones Release “Hyde Park Live” For Limited Time

Rolling Stones fans eager to grab a piece of history have about a month to get on the wagon for this one. In commemoration of their now-concluded “50 and Counting” tour, the Stones have released Hyde Park Live, a collection of performances from their July 6 and July 13 shows at London’s Hyde Park, for a limited time on iTunes.

This release is historically significant on a number of levels. First, the Hyde Park shows represent a significant homecoming for The Rolling Stones. It’s been 44 years since they played there; that previous performance was their first show since the death of Brian Jones, and the first with Jones’ replacement Mick Taylor (a free show that drew 250,000 people, which for 1969 was quite a significant crowd).

Second, it’s significant that this “limited edition” is being released exclusively as a digital download, rather than as a hardcopy (although it is rumored that a DVD of the shows may soon come available).

And third—it’s The Rolling Stones’ friggin’ 50-year anniversary concert. What else do you need?

Hyde Park Live will be available for download exclusively at iTunes between July 22 and August 19. Get it while you can. Track list is below.

About the Author

on MUSIC IS MY OXYGEN WEEKLY.

Tim Ferrar's interest in pop and rock started as a child, listening to Top-40 radio for hours on end while playing air guitar in his bedroom. Eventually air guitar led to electric guitar, and Tim began playing in bands and writing his own songs. With an admitted weakness for "a great hook or a great guitar riff," Tim's musical tastes are broad and varied, ranging from Michael Jackson and Lady Gaga on the pop side to Bon Jovi and Foo Fighters on the rock side- making him the ideal guy to cover our Rock and Pop categories. By day, Tim is a mild-mannered accountant in Chicago. By night, he rocks out on electric guitar in a cover band in various clubs around town- much to the surprise of some of his clients.
