Rumors have been flying for a few days about whether or not Michael Caine has signed on to appear in Matthew Vaughn’s adaptation of Mark Millar’s comic book The Secret Service.
When asked, over twitter, for comment Millar replied:
Flurry of tweets asking about the great @themichaelcaine joining our Secret Service movie. Very interesting, but only Fox can confirm
Normally, I’d say that a confirmation that Caine will indeed be appearing in the film. However, Millar is known for his sideshow hucksterisms. I wouldn’t trust anything buissness-wise that comes out of his mouth. Or, in this case, finger tips.
If Caine does sign on to the movie it’s being rumored that he’ll be playing the head of a spy organization. I’m pretty excited about that.
I have not read The Secret Service and I’m probably not going to. I’m probably not going to buy any Mark Millar comics ever again. I’ve been burnt too many times by Millar. I don’t need to read stories written for really angry pre-pubesent boys. Thanks but no.
That being said, I did enjoy the Kick Ass movie. I loathed the comics but I really did enjoy the movie. I love Vaughn so I’d say there’s a decent chance of getting me into the theaters when The Secret Service is released.
