Amazing Spider-man was not the most loved franchise opener. It made some money, and it wasn’t universally loathed. I was not a fan of this reboot. It felt completely stale and wildly out of character for multiple characters.
Amazing Spider-man 2, however, seems like it’s heading in the right direction. Electro looks cool, the Rhino seems cool, and there’s supposedly a cameo from the Vulture. Many have posited that this film is leading towards a Sinister Six team-up villainy.
Well, a new piece of info has come to light. When asked if the possibility of other heroes joining Spider-man on screen, Avi Arad responded like this:
Uh… I’d rather not answer that at this point. This is what the word ‘spoiler’ means. We want to always leave the audience with a couple of surprises. All of a sudden, you feel like, yeah, there’s a continuity. So if we say today how we go about it, we’d take away from the surprise of the movie.
This is interesting. Who could Sony pull from the pantheon of peeps in Spidey’s corner? Let’s see.
There’s The Prowler
The Prowler is a street thug turned superhero. Think Ironman from the inner city. He’d be a perfect addition to Spider-man’s team of allies.
The Wild Pack & Silver Sable
Silver Sable is a gun for hire with a heart of gold. Think female James Bond. The Wild Pack are her support network of not-swat dudes.
Solo is another ex-millitary type who went into the super heroing biz. He’s make a good supporting team member to a Justice League of Spider.
The one that most people are probably most excited about is the most obvious choice for someone from the Marvel Universe that Sony has the rights to.
Cat burglar turned sorta supporting cast member, Felicia Hardy is The Black Cat. And I’d say my money is on her being the character that Avi Arad is attempting to not talk about.
