The ultimate fate of the fan favorite series ‘Arrested Development’ has been up in the air. Well, not that up in the air. But people have been a little gun shy due to the series previous cancelation and long hiatus.
Mitchell Hurwitz, creator of the show, just went on record and has officially confirmed that the show will be back for a fifth season. While in Montreal for the Just For Last Comedy Festival Hurwitz said this:
“I kinda go back and forth between [a movie] and a series. But here’s the most important thing, whatever we do, I want to get the cast all together and not do another anthology thing, and that’s why I keep thinking about kicking off with a special or a three-part show and then going into a series.”
Many detractors of the fourth season offered the criticism that it wasn’t ‘Arrested Development-y’ enough. They felt that the spotlight of the week formula was too drastically different from what had come before.
I’m always facinated by the recurring talk of movies when if comes to A.D. I’m not opposed to the idea of a feature film centering on the Bluth family I just wouldn’t immediately jump to it. 24? Sure. That screams ‘MAKE A MOVIE OF ME’ but there’s nothing about Arrested Development that screams movie to me.
