You can tell music festival season is approaching, as one after the other releases their schedules and lineups to much fanfare. The latest on the list is Bonnaroo, the four-day music and arts festival that takes place each June in Manchester, TN. This week, Bonnaroo officially announced their linup for 2013’s festival on June 13-16.
Brits dominate this year’s festival headline acts, with icon Sir Paul McCartney and current stars Mumford & Sons (both recent Grammy winners) filling top slots, along with Tom Petty & the Heartbreakers, Bjork, Wilco and others. The lineup also includes lots of indie acts and up-and-comers from a variety of genres; Grizzly Bear, The Lumineers, Kendrick Lamar, The Gaslight Anthem, Purity Ring, A$AP Rocky, Of Monsters and Men, Tame Impala, Macklemore & Ryan Lewis, Portugal, the Man, Beach House, Cat Power, Killer Mike, Matt & Kim, and many others are on the list. You’ll also find a number of well-known veterans on the list, including Billy Idol, ZZ Top, and Dwight Yoakam—and even a set or two by “Weird Al” Yankovic. And they are even leaving room for more acts to be announced later.
Tickets for Bonnaroo 2013 go on sale officially at noon EST this Saturday, Feb. 23, and are likely to go fast, as the festival draws about 100,000 fans each year. There are also VIP packages available, and the Bonnaroo website includes helpful information about places to stay, camp, park your RV, and all that other good stuff. The key to enjoying Bonnaroo, of course, is to plan ahead. Also bring lots of sunscreen.
