‘Bridesmaids’ Director To Oversee New Peanuts Film

Fox and Blu Sky are joining forces to produce a new incarnation of the iconic Charles Shultz comic strip and cartoon Peanuts. Paul Feig, writer and director of Bridesmaids, will over see the production of a 3D computer generated animated vehicle for the characters. He’ll be producing the film, with the obvious goal of launching a new franchise.

“Growing up, Peanuts was my Star Wars,” Feig said. “Charles Schulz’s characters influenced everything in my career, especially Freaks And Geeks. I’m thrilled I finally get to be pals with Charlie Brown and Snoopy.”

Shultz’s son Craig had this to say, “As we continue on our creative journey to bring my father’s characters to life, collaborating with a talent like Paul is a great step forward. Knowing how Peanuts, especially Charlie Brown’s never-give-up-attitude has influenced him throughout his life, makes this partnership even more meaningful.”
