Horror Legends Stuart Gordon (Re-Animator, From Beyond) and Jeffrey Combs (Re-Animator, Star Trek: Deep Space 9) are teaming up to bring their highly acclaimed stage play Nevermore, about the life of Edgar Allen Poe, to the big screen. They’ve started a kickstarter page and are asked for $375,000. They’re looking to create a feature film based on the life and stories of Poe. Here’s hoping they make their goal.
The Leo DiCaprio/Marty Scorcese partnership continues with another iconic film. Sure, this film doesn’t look anything like the other film that the duo have made together but it definitely looks like a wild ride. The Wolf of Wall Street appears to more of Scorsese’s signature quick cuts, a charming performance from Mr DiCaprio and the ever ubiquitous Matthew McConaughey. It’s probably easier to just watch the trailer than listening to […]
It wasn’t that long ago, March to be precise, that Fede Alvarez was on record saying that he was still co-writing and directing the sequel to his successful remake/reboot/re-imagining of Sam Raimi’s classic Evil Dead. Apparently that’s changed. Now, according to co-writer Rodo Sayagues, they’re both off the project. Rodo said: “Look, I am sorry to tell you this but that movie won’t happen. Evil Dead 2 is not going […]
The new JJ Abrams and JH Wyman show ‘Almost Human’ is on the air and, as such, Fox is trying to drum up support and create a fan base for the new show. The show takes place in the future and centers on a cop who doesn’t like robots but who is paired with a robot partner. Cue the hilarity and racial allegory. The show stars Bones aka Dredd aka […]
The day that X-fans have been waiting for is finally here. The trailer for the newest installment of the X-franchise, X-Men: Days of Future Past, has been released online. The trailer is stunning. Bryan Singer, the director of the first two installments, is returning to the directors chair in order to put the franchise back on its feet. Sure, First Class did well, but the reboot was hampered by old […]
Jon Spaights the writer, or should I say the co-writer, of Prometheus became a name around Hollywood he due to a spec script that he wrote a few years ago titled Passengers. Keanu liked it and , if memory serves correct, became financially involved with the script. Well, nothing happened. The script just lay dormant while Spaights went on to write Prometheus. Sort of. Well, it looks like thanks to […]
Dreamworks just won’t stop. It seems like every five minutes the put out yet another animated movie. I’d like to be able to say that they have a quality control department but it’s really just not the case. The Dreamworks Animation company just keeps churning out half baked animated property after half baked animated property. Their latest offering is Mr Peabody and Sherman, a time travel story that involves a […]
Captain America was the best part of the Avengers for me. Joss Whedon’s writing was spot on. Cap has always been my favorite Avenger so now we’re re-entering his solo franchise I’m a bit nervous. The First Avenger wasn’t all that it could have been. I’m really hoping that Cap 2 steps up and delivers in a big way. It definitely has the potential to do so. It’s got a […]
Fox and Blu Sky are joining forces to produce a new incarnation of the iconic Charles Shultz comic strip and cartoon Peanuts. Paul Feig, writer and director of Bridesmaids, will over see the production of a 3D computer generated animated vehicle for the characters. He’ll be producing the film, with the obvious goal of launching a new franchise. “Growing up, Peanuts was my Star Wars,” Feig said. “Charles Schulz’s characters […]
Tom Hardy is one of the most interesting actors working in film today. He’s versatile, he’s charismatic, and he’s got the chops to pull off just about anything. He’s played England’s most insane serial criminal, Captain Picard’s clone, Bane, and we’ll soon see him on screen as Mad Max. He’s really a wonder to behold. Elton John’s Rocket Films will be producing a biopic of the infamous singer titled ‘Rocketman’ […]
Michael Dougherty, writer of such films as Superman Returns and X-men 2, recently released a great horror film titled Trick R Treat. It’s a fun romp and it deserves a sequel. We’ll see if that end up happening. Trick R Treat is a low budget, fun halloween film that doesn’t get half the credit it deserves. The film has a star studded cast with Dylan Baker aka Dr Curt Connors […]
Conan O’Brien has a wonderful talk show on TBS. It’s great. But you know what? I don’t watch it that often. I’m not sure why. It’s not because of the quality of the show. Maybe it’s because the fact that I don’t have cable. You know what I do watch fairly regularly? Conan’s streaming interview show Serious Jibber Jabber. His guest on this episode is Mel Brooks. The episode funny, […]
It’s October. It’s almost Halloween. You know what that means. Time to start breaking out all those horror movies and watching them again. Chief among them should be John Carpenter’s Halloween. Carpenter’s Halloween is arguably the film that birthed the slasher genre. It’s also a film that holds up considerably well. Take a look at this wonderful mini documentary that details the finer points of the film.
Nicolas Winding Refn is currently attached to a few projects, none of which are moving along at light speed. He’s attached to a psudeo-prequel to Valhalla Rising titled The Avenging Silence, a Barbarella television adaptation, and he was attached to the Logan’s Run remake, but that just fell apart. For some time now Winding Refn has talked about making an ‘all-female horror’ film that contains ‘lots of sex’. The film’s […]
The current rumor on the streets of Hollywood is pretty simple. It’s that the long gestating Beetlejuice sequel will in fact be helmed by Tim Burton himself. Burton had given his blessing about a year ago and had become involved in a limited capacity. Since then, rumors persist that he’s become more and more attached. He also has been purportedly attempting to shift his schedule so he can direct both […]
