According to Richmond, Virginia-based publication Style Weekly, who first broke the news, Brockie was discovered by his roommate on Sunday afternoon, who called the police.  He was dead by the time they arrived. Authorities are waiting on an autopsy to determine cause […]

Tim Lambesis of As I Lay Dying Pleads Guilty to Plotting Murder

On Tuesday, Tim Lambesis, lead singer of the metalcore band As I Lay Dying, entered a guilty plea to the charge of solicitation for murder in a Vista, California courthouse, after previously denying the charge, Rolling Stone reports. Lambesis was initially arrested in San Diego in May 2013 after allegedly handing $1000 to an undercover police officer posing as a hit man named “Red”, along with directions to his estranged […]

Hey, metalheads – how about a show on a boat? In recent years, musically-themed cruises have been hugely successful for acts from all genres, including Kid Rock, the Backstreet Boys/New Kids on the Block, 311, Weezer, and Sister Hazel, among many others. As a result, the popularity of cruises among music fans of all shapes, sizes and styles has led to a handful of new metal-themed cruises, all wanting to […]

Linkin Park Blend Old with New Effectively on ‘Living Things’

Warner Brothers (2012)

Linkin Park aren’t content to release the same album over and over – they’ve proven that for years. Today, the onetime nu-metal band released Living Things, their first since 2010’s challenging A Thousand Suns. Their fifth studio album (and third co-produced by MC Mike Shinoda and Rick Rubin), it features a collection of songs that channel their past while charging forward, blending styles and structures every bit as efficiently as […]

Miss May I Charge Forward with ‘At Heart’

Rise Records (2012)

At Heart, Miss May I’s newly-released third album, is perfectly timed, considering their involvement in this summer’s Vans Warped Tour. Crisply-produced and deliberately composed, the album showcases the metal genre’s new school of noteworthy young bands, obsessed over by teenagers nationwide. Their second album with clean vocalist/bassist Ryan Neff, At Heart is a high-energy but ultimately run-of-the-mill collection of aggressive, hard-charging pit-ready metal, rife with as many breakdowns as you’d […]

The film was released on Blu-Ray and DVD back in November, but if you haven’t picked it up, you’ll have a chance to catch it when it airs next month. The Melvins Get Weird Again with ‘Freak Puke’

Ipecac Recordings, 2012

Freak Puke, the Melvins’ eighteenth studio album, is very appropriately titled. Their sludgy doom-metal inspired Kurt Cobain to make music in the late 1980s, and little has changed in the thirty years they’ve been a band. Freak Puke may have been recorded by “Melvins Lite” – a stripped-down version of the band’s lineup featuring guitarist/vocalist Buzz Osborne, drummer Dale Crover (a onetime Nirvana kit-man) and Trevor Dunn (of the Mike […]

Marilyn Manson “Born Villain” –Album Review

Hell, Etc. (2012)

Talk about conquering your inner demons. Born Villain, the first new record from Marilyn Manson since 2008, is surprisingly solid, and tailor-made to shock those who turned their backs on Manson after his last two underwhelming albums. More than anything, Born Villain is Manson re-visiting what put him on the map. It’s a throwback to yesteryear, nearly two decades after he turned the world upside-down with his bondage suits, black […]
