Industry insiders are saying that Matt Damon is circling a long gestating catholic sex scandal film that Tom McCarthy and Dreamworks are attempting to put together.
The circulating buzz would indicate that the film is:
“The highly charged drama is aiming to be an “All The President’s Men”-style movie that will center on the journalists at the Boston Globe — Michael Rezendes, Sacha Pfeiffer and Matt Carroll, Spotlight Team Editor Walter “Robby” Robinson, Special Projects Editor Ben Bradlee Jr. and Globe Editor Marty Baron — who discovered and exposed that Cardinal Bernard Law, America’s Senior Catholic Prelate, was protecting priests accused of assault, by moving them to different parishes, where they offended again.”
It’s not clear yet who Damon would be playing. But the film seems to be generating a lot of heat.
This is a very interesting choice for Damon. I’m all about it. Going from Behind the Candelabra to Elysium to this? That’s really impressive. You can’t say that Damon doesn’t take chances. It’s extremely impressive when considered that he’s doing this for nearly two decades striaght. He’s proven to be consistently interesting. He’s not always in the best movies but you can’t accuse him of taking the easy road or making boring films.
