The release of the second entry in the newly rebooted Planet of the Apes franchise is rapidly approaching. And to increase excitement for the film even more 20th Century Fox has done something amazing. They’ve collaborated with Vice’s Motherboard to produce three short films that span the ten year gap between Rise and Dawn.
Three directors, three different time periods, and three radically different short films. The thing that’s the most interesting about these films is how the directors overcame the obvious low budgets with incredible ease. All three of the pieces accurately capture different aspects of the post-apocalyptic landscape.
The first film titled Quarantine. Check it out.
The second film is titled All Fall Down.
The third film is titled The Gun.
I don’t know about you, but I’m really excited about these. Even if the feature film isn’t as good as it looks to be, these are awesome. And they’re an extremely interesting way of spanning across media. I love the idea that we could get a feature film accompanied by a few short films. I’m a big fan of this model and I hope it catches on and other studios start paying attention.
