Tim Burton is a highly acclaimed, much beloved film director. But like everyone he had to start off at the bottom. He had to work his way up. He had to claw his way out of obscurity, just like everyone else.
Well, recently, a copy of one of Burton’s first short films has appeared online. It’s a retelling of Hansel & Gretel. Is it good? Well, not not really. Is it bad? Well, yes. Decidedly so.
That being said, it’s interesting. It’s pretty cool to see the stylistic flourishes that would later go on to define the director. Purportedly the film was part of a TV special and filmed for only $116,000.
