Bradley Cooper signed on to a movie called American Sniper last year. He’s both producing and starring in the film which chronicles the life of Chris Kyle the U.S. Navy Seal with the highest kill count of any sniper in recorded history.
Originally, Copper was in talks with David O. Russell to direct the film. After Russell moved on Cooper was able to lock down Steven Spielberg to direct. However, Spielberg just left the project due to budgetary concerns.
Well, let’s hope that the pre-production drama was all just a side note because uber director Clint Eastwood just signed on to the picture.
Eastwood will hopefully be shooting the film in the coming year for a release date of next year of the year after. Due to Spielberg’s departure, Dreamworks will no longer be working to co-produce the film. American Sniper is a completely Warner Brothers funded romp, now.
It’s hard to say if Spielberg or Eastwood is a better fit for this project. They’re both mega directors who have Oscar bait written all over them. I’d say Bradley Cooper’s sniper movie will be a-ok.
