Interesting news is popping up about the newly slated second attempt at rebooting the Friday the 13th franchise. We were previously hearing that the re-reboot might be a found footage film. This seemed like an obvious direction to take the franchise. Most of us here at Film Is My Oxygen were really excited about the prospect of a found footage Jason movie.
Well, the reboot might not feature Jason at all.
Producer Brad Fuller was interviewed by Crave and he had this to say:
“Again, I don’t know because I don’t know if we’re going to have Jason, I don’t know which Jason we’re going to have. I can tell you this: I love Derek Mears, I love working with him and he’s a dream so we’d be lucky to have him.”
Crave had asked about the possibility of famed Jason actor Kane Hodder returning to play the part instead of Derek Mears, the Jason in the last reboot.
Judging from Fullers reaction is looks as though they’re really debating on not using Jason at all. I love me some Mr Vorhees but I’d be totally down for a Friday the 13th film that didn’t feature him. Just to see what they’d cook up. I mean it can’t be as bad as Jason Goes To Hell, right?
No, nothing’s that bad.
ps: I really dig Jason Goes To Hell.
