Ol’ Sly Stallone has been cranking out Expendables movies faster than you can say ‘AAAAADRIANNN’. How many of them are there now? Like 13? Or 14? Regardless, I don’t think anyone is really clamoring for any more of the 80’s action throwback team up franchise. However, the other franchises that Stallone seems to revisit fairly often has some new interest. No, not Rocky.
Ever since the simply titled fourth installment in the franchise blew everyone away in 2008, there’s been numerous rumors that there would be a fifth installment. And now the German distribution company that bought the rights to the film have released a statement:
“With ‘Rambo V’ Sylvester Stallone returns in his iconic role. This time he goes up against a Mexican cartel. Stallone, who has also written the screenplay, describes the new Rambo as his version of ‘No Country for Old Men.’ Like the last film, ‘Rambo V’ is produced by Avi Lerner (“The Expendables 1-3″).”
Is this really their announcement? Or a sort of attention grab to procure more financing? We’ll have to wait and see. But either way, they’ve got my money. I’ll be sitting in the theatre on opening day, if it ever rolls around.
