“Kimye” To Wed in Paris in Intimate Ceremony

He made Jesus Walk, made Taylor Swift freak out, and made us all Watch The Throne. Now the college drop-out is making the biggest headline of them all – he’s getting married… finally. And it’s going to be the greatest wedding of all time!

Or maybe not. According to the female half of the flashy duo, Kim Kardashian and Kanye West’s wedding will be an “intimate” affair set in Paris, with just about 150 people, as Kpopstars reports. Kim told Ryan Seacrest, “As we are going along, we realize we want to be smaller and more intimate than people are imagining and thinking.” Well, we’re not sure the couple knows what small is. We all remember that lavish October proposal Kanye pulled off for Kim when he popped the question on Keeping Up With the Kardashians. Baseball stadium. Orchestra. 15-carat diamond ring. Millions of TV viewers. In the episode, Kim says, “It is so crazy to me that this is all happening. Kanye really outdid himself.”

With that in your memory, this little ceremony seems… un-Kanye-istic. But not so fast. Reports say the couple have aligned their nuptials with the astrological calendar and will marry under a spectacular light show as Comet 209P/LINEAR flashes through a meteor shower.  Now, THAT’S more like it. And then of course, there’s television.

The revolution will not be televised, but this wedding might be – on Keeping Up With The Kardashians.  According to rumors, televising the ceremony apparently caused friction between Kanye and his bestie, Jay-Z. Kanye wants Jay-Z to be his best man, but, despite their bromance, Jay agreed only under one condition: under no circumstances can there be any reality TV shows filming him, his wife or Blue Ivy during the ceremony. Apparently the thought of showing up on Keeping Up With The Kardashians “mortifies” Beyonce.

The rumor mill continues to roll with speculation that the couple will walk down the aisle May 24th, right before Kanye’s daughter North’s first birthday. We couldn’t wish them more happiness. All things considered, looks like the college drop-out has finally grown up.

About the Author

Mic check 1,2,1,2. Not the words you expect to bust out of Orange County, California, but that's where Deborah Jane found her funk. Daughter of Guyanese immigrants, Deborah grew up in an all-white suburb where she was one of the only black kids in her school. (Fun fact: She didn't make her first black friend until attending Stanford University). Hip-hop gave her a voice and helped her discover her roots. Now she is an emcee and writer who both spits raps and writes editorials, TV shows and films - especially hip-hop musicals!

At Stanford, she wrote and produced an award-winning hip-hop musical, Strange Fruit: The Hip-Hopera (www.strangefruithiphopera.com) - now in development as a feature film. Deborah also launched her hip-hip theatre webseries, The HOTT (www.youtube.com/TheHOTTtv), published in Urban Cusp Magazine. Currently, she is penning her first hip-hop album, Do You Love Me Deborah Jane? And do you? She truly hopes you all love her.
