Matthew Vaughn, director of X-men: First Class and Kick Ass has directed yet another comic book adaptation. This time, as spy thriller based on Mark Miller and Dave Gibbons’ comic book The Secret Service.
The urban legend that surrounds the movie is that Millar, a famed comic book writer, and Vaughn, and acclaimed film director, were at a party discussing Casino Royale, the Bond picture that was out at the time. They both reached the conclusion that the film would have been more interesting if it had showed more of Bond’s childhood and his induction into MI6.
From there, they co-plotted a comic book together which Vaughn is now directing. The film appears much more light hearted and far less grounded than we were initially lead to believe. But it does have the trademark sense of humor and action that we’ve come to expect from Vaughn.
