Marc Webb Will Make One More Spider-man Film, Then Depart

Marc Webb, the director of 500 Days of Summer, The Amazing Spider-man and The Amazing Spider-man 2, has officially said that he’s not going to be returning for Amazing Spider-man 4. Sony’s web head franchise is gearing up to be churning out a Spidey movie every year or so, but the man who helped reboot it won’t be around to help. Recently, Webb made some comments on the topic.

“I’d like to be involved as a consultant, and I’ve already talked to these guys about it, but in terms of directing it, that will close out my tenure. I’ve had so much fun doing it, but after the third movie, it’ll be the time to find something else.”

He also said this:

“We’re building out a more complicated Spider-Man universe with characters that people haven’t seen in other Spider-Man movies—The Sinister Six, Venom, and more. We’d all love to overlap with other studios, but it’s beyond my pay grade.”

And this:

“Yeah. There will be some “creature of the night” popping up.”

Sounds like some interesting stuff. I’m sure Webb will be plenty  busy after he leaves Spider-man.
