That’s right. The second in the Planet of the Apes reboot series isn’t even out yet. (It comes out in July) and we’re already hearing the news about the third film in the series. Dawn of the Planet of the Apes director Matt Reeves has officially signed on to direct the as-yet-untitled third film in the new series.
Reeves will be co-writting the sequel with current co-scribe Mark Bomback. The two have been reportedly doing a good job on the sequel so it makes sense that they’re being brought back to give the third film a whirl.
It hasn’t been announced yet, but it’s a given that Andy Sirkis will return as Caesar in the eventually long-titled film.
Dawn of the Planet of the Apes opens in theaters July 11th. Which puts it in peak blockbuster territory. Let’s hope it fairs well.
