Fast and Furious actor Paul Walker tragically passed away in November. Since then there have been multiple rumors about how Universal would complete the Fast and Furious sequel that is now halted half way through production and incapable of resuming production due to one of it’s stars no longer being alive.
Many potential solutions have been bandied about. One being a complete restart, another being tonal rewrites to ‘kill off’ Brian O’Connor, Paul Walker’s character.
Currently, there’s a rumor swirling around that the younger brother of Paul Walker, Cody Walker, could step in and serve as a fill in for Paul.
A source has said:
“They can shoot Cody from behind and at distance and if it’s a shot they need Paul’s face in close up they can CGI it later on. If Cody agrees it’s because he wants to honor his brother’s memory. There are many details that still need to be worked out, but right now the family and cast and crew are all still grieving.”
Universal hasn’t commented yet.
Just to give you an idea of how this could work, this is what Cody Walker looks like.
We’ll see what eventually shakes loose and how this situation is solved. It looks like Universal is slowly moving towards some sort of solution. Who knows what that will eventually look like.
