The Point Break remake has been a topic of discussion for a long time now. It started as a sequel to the original film, and then when Patrick Swayze passed away it morphed into a remake. There have been a few actors who have been connected to the project over the years, but the one who got the furthest was Gerard Butler.
Butler dropped out of the project today citing a mixture of creative differences and scheduling conflicts.
The filmmakers are committed to a June release date so expect to hear more news about casting very, very soon. Perhaps this will kill the project, perhaps it won’t.
Either way, can’t say that it really feels necessary for this remake to happen.
