Every few years there’s a short film that seems to blow everyone’s socks off and just demands to be made into a feature film. The Flying Man from director Marcus Alqueres is one of those films. Alqueres has produced an original short film detailing his take on an already well-trodden genre. The Super Hero. The Flying Man is especially interesting due to the fact that it doesn’t focus on the super hero character. The film centers around common everyday people that are forced to deal with the appearance of a super powered flying man.
The film is richly textured and ultimately extremely satisfying. I wouldn’t be surprised if we hear news that Alqueres is taking meetings with studio big wigs and production company head honchos. This short film is tight and well thought out. Here’s hoping Alqueres can parlay this into a feature film.
I’d pay to see it.
