The Naked and Famous Release “Hearts Like Ours” Single, Video

Sophomore album “In Rolling Waves” due out September 16

I don’t know about you, but I was completely hooked the first time I heard “Young Blood” by The Naked and Famous on the radio. Their unique blend of electro-pop with post-punk revival (combined with Alisa Xayalith’s passionate vocals, especially) just scratched an itch in my psyche. I couldn’t get enough of that song.

A lot has happened since this New Zealand act released that single. Their debut album Passive Me, Aggressive You went gold here in the US, and they went on to perform in no less than 24 countries, after which the band relocated to Los Angeles (specifically, Laurel Canyon) to start work on their sophomore album.

This week, The Naked and Famous released the first-fruits of that record, a new single and entitled “Hearts Like Ours,” with an accompanying video featuring Xayalith with a new blonde “do.” This tune is every bit as catchy as “Young Blood,” in my opinion, and just as satisfying.

The new album, titled In Rolling Waves, is set for a September 16 release. If the rest of the record is anything like this single, I can’t wait.
