Universal Monsterverse Gains Chris Morgan

Earlier this year, it was reported that Alex Kurtzman and Roberto Orci were going to reboot the Universal films into a shared universe, just like the old Universal Monster movies. Well, a few months ago, Kurtzman and Orci had a creative split. The two long time collaborators when in different directions. Orci is directing Star Trek 3 and Kurtzman is writing half the franchise film under the sun.

Well, there’s been a new writing name added to the Universal reboot family. Chris Morgan. The man who has written all seven of the Fast and Furious films, has just been added as the other architect for the Universal brand. Currently, Kurtzman and Morgan are going to produce and oversee the films. No word yet on if they’re going to actually write any of the films. The first film to be released in the new universe will be The Mummy which will debut in 2016.
