UPDATE: Fiona Apple Adds New Dates to Summer Tour

The news keeps getting better for Fiona Apple fans; apparently, popular demand is pushing her to broaden her reach this summer. Where previously Apple’s announced summer tour (in support of her new album) was only to include 8 cities, the Apple camp now reports that the tour will include 27 cities across North America.

Apple has been mostly reclusive over the past several years, rarely performing live outside of the Los Angeles area. Her recent appearance at SXSW caused quite a buzz on the Internet, particularly with her previewing of three new songs off her upcoming album The Idler Wheel Is Wiser Than the Driving of the Screw, and Whipping Cords Will Serve You More than Ropes Will Ever Do. The album is set to drop in late June, and the subsequent tour will last through the month of July.

We’ve posted the announced tour dates below, and tickets for some venues go on sale as early as next week. Given how rare it is for Fiona Apple to put on a tour like this, it’s likely that most of these shows will sell out, so my advice is to get your tickets sooner, rather than later.

About the Author

Growing up in Portland, Oregon, Kim Phelps found her inspiration and love for music listening to local bands play in the coffeehouses around town. She soon found her own voice as a singer-songwriter, and eventually began playing her own gigs in the coffee shops. Her personal influences include Ani DiFranco, Indigo Girls, Ingrid Michaelson and Cat Power, but as an indie musician herself, she has an affinity for any band or artist who pursues creative freedom on the outskirts of the music industry. As our Indie correspondent, Kim makes a point of highlighting up-and-coming independent acts who are creating a buzz and building an audience. When she's not blogging for us or playing in the coffee shops, Kim works as a barista herself to help pay the bills. She currently lives in Seattle, Washington.
