X-men: Apocalypse Is Coming

Yesterday Brian Singer leaked that the next X-men film would be titled X-men: Apocalypse and it would be coming during the summer of 2016.

Everyone has been quite taken aback by the revaluation due to the fact that these types of announcements usually happen during conventions or around the release of a film. Well, Singer doesn’t care. At all. He just said it on twitter. Good for him.

Today the rumor mill is in full effect. People are clamoring for more information about what the sequel will be and how it will relate to, the currently in post, X-men: Days of Future Past.

Well, Bleeding Cool has just issued this:

So, as of now, here’s how I believe it stands, based on intel from folk who’d been telling me an Apocalypse film would follow Days. Days of Future Past will lead directly into Apocalypse. There’s a clear narrative thread that will string the two pictures together, and the character of Apocalypse is a good part of how this will work.

They’re usually on the money with this kind of thing.

One of the larger question marks about the sequel is if it will feature Wolverine. Jackman has said repeatedly that he doesn’t want to sign onto a film that isn’t good.

When asked about doing The Wolverine 2 or X-Men Origins: Wolverine 2 or whatever they’re calling it, he said:

“I don’t know whether or not I will do this next movie. I am really proud of this movie and I am excited to develop something with Jim Mangold from the beginning because that is a great ride. That’s exciting, to see what we come up with but I have a very high expectation of what it would need to be [for me to star in it] and if it doesn’t reach those, I won’t be doing it.”

If that’s any indication of Jackman’s mindset I’d say he’s not going to run to sign on the dotted line for X-Men: Apocalypse.
